Her mother murdered, her father a laudanum addict, Gemma has relied on an unsuspected strength and has discovered an ability to travel to an enchanted world called the realms, where dark magic runs tning. Why should there be any debt? Some people have mentioned in their reviews that they saw signs of this coming.
There are so many, many things that I find very wrong with this book. The thing wasn’t even resolved they won a battle but not the war. These girls see no reason why they shouldn’t be able to be who they want to be, dress the way they want to, live they way they want to, etc.
Gemma’s story is beautifully told and I am glad I had the chance to read it. You will have to read to find out what that means. Over all, this is a fantastic series with a fascinating blend of fantasy and history.

Sometimes, I forget where I am and lose track of time. Yes, this book is a really, really long one, but Bray likes her descriptions and her character development. I don’t believe in persecuting homosexuals but I do believe it is fsr.
